Hello, my name is Yew Khai Meng, It is the first time I
write blog, I never write blog before. I also rarely read other people’s blog
before, in my opinion, write a blog same with write a diary; is about record
the experience in daily life and some feeling about particular event, in the
future, we can refer back what we have experience, it is like a memory book. It
is also one of a way to express people’s emotion. I heard that some people
write blog to scold other people, it is also a kind of expression. Some people
also use blog to do business especially small business for example selling
clothes, pants. They use blog to do business because it is free of charge.
Opps, it seems to be talking too much useless thing. Let go back to the main
topic, I felt surprise that Ms Nurdiana required us to write blog. It is a new
approach for us to refresh what we have learned in the class; another benefit
is that we can learn from our classmate through reading the other’s blog and
discussion. The other thing is debate; it is very hard for me because my English
speaking is not that good and I am not familiar with the rule of debate even
though I participated one time in secondary school, anyway it is a new
challenge for me, and I should try my best to fight for it.
During the first class, I learned the meaning of ethics, but
I still cannot differentiate morals and ethics after attend a few classes. In
my opinion, both ethics and morals are similar that about the general
understanding of right or wrong for people to behave. I hope I can discover
more about the differences between morals and ethics in future classes. Besides
that, we also learned the importance of ethics, before we attend this class; we
already knew the basic knowledge of importance of ethics, human need ethics as
a standard of rule in order to live together without conflict. A part from that,
ethics is also very importance in business world, in the principle of finance,
the tenth principle says that “ethical behaviour is doing the right thing, and
ethical dilemmas are everywhere in finance”, this principle means people will
behave unethically even though they know it is wrong, because of attracted by benefit
such as money or position, human could give up their own principle and choose
to behave unethically. Business cannot operate without the concern of ethic
especially food and beverage industry, it could harm people directly. After the
first class, we realise that every people has their own limit for them to
behave ethically, once over the limit, people will no longer behave ethically, the
limit always determined by money. To be honest, I also has my own limit, my
limit is variable means my limit is depend on the situation, first of all I will
consider the impact on my unethical behaviour, the most important factor for me to consider is the people that I could
harm, second thing is the benefit for me to behave unethically. But so far I never
behave unethically before even still a small thing. Of course lie is also
consider a kind of unethical behaviour, but for me I will not purposely lie a
person unless lie to a person is good for them meaning to say that sometime we
got to lie in order to avoid some unhappy things happen.
Another topic to share here is that some time we will
realise some people left their belongings such as wallet or phone in the toilet,
do not return and take others thing for our own is also consider behave
unethically. I still remember I did it before in a shopping centre, I realise a
camera which dropped by others, after I took the camera, my first intention was
to leave the shopping centre because I worry the person came back to find his
or her camera; means I wanted to take away the camera. On the way going out to
the shopping, I was thinking whether wanted to give it back to the owner or
not. After that I opened up the casing of the camera, I found two hundred US
dollar (six hundred Ringgit Malaysia) in the casing. I tried to find whether
got any passport or not, but I cannot find. At that time I had the intention to
give back the camera to the owner. Finally I took the camera and money as my
own. A few month ago, I left my phone insight the toilet in our university,
after almost two hours, I realised I lost my phone. At that time, I was very
sad because I lost my phone and I needed to ask for money to buy a new phone.
After that I tried to call my phone, the staff of ICT department pick up the
phone and talk to me, after that I went to ICT department to collect my phone,
I wanted to know who took my phone to ICT department, but that person did not
write his name. After this thing happen, I felt very bad because I took the
camera for my own and never tried my best to found the owner. I promised that I
will return anything that I found in anywhere to the owner. I was so lucky to
meet good person, but I know lucky will not always stay with me, I have to help
other people to be good person also.
There is another topic I want to share on this blog which is
the situation in our class; our class is so quiet (I am also one of the person
that always keep quiet) which do not meet the requirement for this class. In my
opinion, the first factor is that all of us come from difference school; we may
not know each other, automatically we will keep quiet. Second factor is that our
class is in the early in the morning, most of us seem to be in the sleeping
mood (including me). I believe that after a few classes, we will know each
other better, so we can share our point of view. Anyway we cannot blame anybody;
we should break the “ice” as soon as possible in order to learn from each other,
we can do it^^.
